Pharmaceutical Chemistry

Overview

Pharmaceutical (medicinal) chemistry is concerned with the design (drug design) and synthesis of biologically active molecules. The aim is to identify new chemical molecules that could enable the discovery of new pharmaceuticals or the optimisation of already known drug structures, thereby expanding the portfolio of chemical drugs.

The Pharmaceutical Chemistry department has all kinds of the latest models of extraction and distillation equipment. A broad range of chemicals and solvents is available to conduct academic and research programs. Safety procedures are followed strictly inside the Pharmaceutical Chemistry laboratory. Aprons, masks and goggles are provided to the students to ensure safety.

Achievements

The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry has successfully completed several academic and research projects in the field of pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry. Faculty members and students have published various research and review articles in national and international journals. The department actively supports research activities related to pharmaceutical analysis, drug development, and medicinal chemistry. Various external and industrial samples are analyzed using advanced analytical techniques. The department also encourages students to participate in seminars, workshops, conferences, and research activities. Laboratory facilities and instruments are regularly upgraded to meet modern industrial and research standards.
