Overview

Driving innovation in pharmaceutical sciences, the Department of Pharmaceutics at S.A. Raja Pharmacy College proudly upholds 38 years of academic excellence. The department houses more than 8 well-equipped laboratories that provide hands-on training in tablet manufacturing, pharmaceutical product development, and advanced formulation techniques. Students gain practical exposure to raw material handling, modern instruments, and industry-standard manufacturing procedures. With over 500 research activities successfully completed, the department fosters a strong culture of research and innovation. As the backbone of the pharmaceutical industry, it bridges academic learning with industrial practice and healthcare needs. The department is committed to producing skilled pharmacy professionals who contribute to pharmaceutical advancement and quality healthcare.

Achievements

The Department of Pharmaceutics organized a one-day CME programme on “Advances and Applications of Nanoscience and Technology: Recent Trends and Future Prospects,” sponsored by The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and co-sponsored by The Indian Pharmaceutical Association on 25 November 2017. The department also conducted a one-day advanced hands-on DNA workshop in July 2018 and organized a Plant Tissue Culture hands-on training programme on 08 April 2022.
Further, the Department of Pharmaceutics conducted a National Seminar on “Principles, Application and Troubleshooting on HPLC and LC-MS” on 30 June 2023. A one-day National Symposium on “New Horizons in Preclinical Imaging of Nanoformulations using Animal Imaging Systems” was organized on 17 November 2023. The department also conducted a one-day National Conference titled “Novel Smart Polymeric Nano Drug Delivery Systems (Nano Innovative)” on 27 March 2024. In addition, a one-day Indo-Caribbean International Conference on “Latest Trends and Current Scenario of Drug Design, Development and Pharmaceutical Sciences” was organized in association with Association of Pharmacy Professionals on 19 August 2024. Conducted Workshop on denitrifies and tooth paste manufacturing on 12/12/2025.
Department faculty PhD

Two faculties, Mr. D. L. Jayachandran and Mrs. Umamaheswari, are pursuing part-time Ph.D. programmes at Chetinadu university of education and research, Kelampakam, Chennai under the co-guidance of Dr. K. Venkateshwaran.

Resource persons

Most of our faculty members have been invited as resource persons and have delivered presentations at various colleges and universities.
